255 Nicola Street
Sacred Heart Cathedral
255 Nicola Street is a large church in Downtown Kamloops, at the southwest corner of 3rd Avenue and Nicola Street. The building is nearly a century old, and since 1945 has served as the cathedral for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kamloops. It is called the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
After the original Sacred Heart Church was destroyed by fire in 1919, the local Catholic congregants met in St Ann's Academy and other community halls until this new Sacred Heart Church on Nicola Street was completed in December of 1925. Since then, there has been one major addition to the building.
For worship services, Sacred Heart Cathedral serves Roman Catholics in the downtown area of Kamloops.
