200 Leigh Road

Kamloops Alliance Church

200 Leigh Road is a large church on the North Shore, visible from Fortune Drive at the Tranquille Road overpass. The Christian & Missionary Alliance originally built an A-frame building on the site - mostly built by volunteer labour. At the time, the address was 233 Fortune Drive. After it was destroyed by a fire, more land was purchased and the current building was constructed. Eventually, an attached office building was added to the site.

Currently the Kamloops Alliance Church congregation meets in this building.

Timeline:

1967: A-frame building constructed. It was completed at the end of the year. The first services were held in the building on 28 January 1968.

3 February 1976: Original building destroyed by fire.

June 1976: More land was purchased so that the new building could be bigger. The property was also re-zoned for a church (In 1968, churches could be built anywhere in Kamloops. By 1976, churches had to be built in special zones).

1 May 1977: New buliding dedicated as "Kamloops Alliance Church".

2015: Construction of attached "Ministry Centre" completed.
